The Kela PV Project by Huawei Digital Power

The smarter E AWARD Finalist 2024 – Category: Outstanding Projects

Huawei Digital Power was named as finalist of the The smarter E AWARD 2024 in the Category "Oustanding Projects" for the application The Kela PV Project.

The Kela PV Project by Huawei Digital Power

Located at an altitude of over 4,000 meters and consisting of a photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 1 GWp, this hydroelectric solar power plant in the Yalong River basin in China’s Sichuan province is both the largest and the highest of its kind in the world. The Lianghekou hydropower plant itself has an installed capacity of 3 GW. With a total capacity of 10.8 billion cubic meters, the Lianghekou reservoir has a regulation capacity of around 6.56 billion cubic meters, which means it can play a key role in regulating the fluctuations of the Kela photovoltaic installation. A 500 kV transmission line connects the PV plant to the hydropower plant. Hydropower and solar power complement each other, as they provide electricity all year round, thus maximizing the efficiency of both energy sources.
