Fluence was named as finalist of the The smarter E AWARD 2026 in the category "Outstanding Projects" for the application "DTEK – Fluence Energy Storage Portfolio in Ukraine".
At six sites across Ukraine, energy storage systems were installed within just six months to strengthen energy security and grid stability—a remarkable achievement under wartime conditions. The project highlights the importance of renewable energy for the resilience of critical infrastructure, which has been a target of Russian attacks. The storage systems make it possible to supply approximately 600,000 households with emergency power for about two hours and help stabilize the grid through frequency regulation and load balancing. Particularly innovative is the AI-supported remote commissioning, which stabilizes voltage within milliseconds using grid-forming, black start, and inertia functions. Integrated cybersecurity solutions also provide protection against digital threats.
