MycoNest is an innovative, modular habitat system based on mycelium, designed for integration into utility-scale PV installations. The lightweight, biodegradable units are made from agricultural residues and provide temporary habitats for birds, insects, and small animals. Thanks to their plug-and-play design, they can be installed without tools on existing infrastructure such as fences or mounting structures. After their service life, the structures fully decompose and enrich the soil with nutrients. In this way, MycoNest transforms solar parks into multifunctional ecosystems, enhances biodiversity, and creates additional ecological as well as economic value.
