Ore Energy was named as finalist of the The smarter E AWARD 2026 in the category "Energy Storage" for the application "Ore Heritage".
Ore Energy’s Ore Heritage is an Iron-Air based battery unit designed for long-duration-storage applications with storage durations in the range of 24 to 100 hours. Due to the Iron-based active material and the aqueous electrolyte, the use of critical raw materials is significantly reduced compared to Li-Ion batteries and capacity related costs are reduced significantly, making the system economically feasible in long-duration-storage applications. With claimed 400 MWh/ha, energy density is lower than for Li-Ion based systems, but still attractive compared to other LDS solutions. A demonstration container system is in operation in Delft since 2025.
