Fluence was named as winner of the The smarter E AWARD 2026 in the category "Outstanding Projects" for the project "DTEK – Fluence Energy Storage Portfolio in Ukraine".
The war in Ukraine created an energy crisis that has driven the need for distributed energy resources across Europe. Fluence has answered the call in Ukraine, partnering with the utility DTEK to remotely deploy six distributed utility-scale BESS assets. Commissioned within just six months in wartime conditions, the portfolio can provide emergency power to 600,000 homes. Its blackstart and synthetic inertia capabilities also supply critical grid stability to sustain hospitals, schools, and community buildings. Fluence's project showcases how distributed BESS can deliver energy security, when and where it’s needed most.
