Ukraine by Boreal Light was named as finalist of the The smarter E AWARD 2024 in the Category "Oustanding Projects" for the application Europe's Largest Solar Desalination Plant: Response to Crisis in Ukraine.
In this project, five solar water desalination plants were delivered to Ukraine, where they are used to maintain the electricity and water supply. Each of these units has a photovoltaic capacity of 450 kWp, which means they can produce around 1,200,000 liters of clean drinking water every day. In addition to their use in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, these fully solar-powered units can also be operated elsewhere under difficult conditions. Such systems illustrate both the potential and the flexibility of renewable energy production, paving the way for the use of renewable energies in vital infrastructure.
