Off-Grid Europe was named as finalist of the The smarter E AWARD 2024 in the Category "Smart Integrated Energy" for the application Much Cooler - Solar Powered Cooling Hall.
Much Cooler is a comprehensive solution for cooling and storing food in off-grid regions. The off-grid solution is designed to meet the special requirements present in hot regions, all the while minimizing costs and complexity. Solar panels, which are integrated into the building structure, generate the energy supply for the cooling system, which is operated at night with lithium-iron-phosphate battery storage systems. A pilot plant will be built in Senegal this year. The project will potentially reduce food waste, which is a problem in many developing countries due to inadequate food refrigeration.
